James
S. Hall received the B.S. degree in computer engineering in 1999
from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. He was awarded
the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 2007 and 2011,
respectively, in electrical and computer engineering from the
Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Hall is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Georgia.
Dr. Hall was commissioned as a Cryptologic Officer in the U.S. Navy
in 1999. He served from 1999-2003, primarily leading small
detachments of personnel overseas in support of Operations SOUTHERN
WATCH, NORTHERN WATCH, ENDURING FREEDOM, and IRAQI FREEDOM.
From 2003 to 2007, he worked as an Electrical Engineer for Harris
Corporation in Melbourne, Florida, where he contributed to the
design and development of several custom communication systems in
various roles including Project Engineer, Lead Digital Engineer, and
Lead DSP Analyst. While working for Harris, he pursued his

Tech. His Ph.D. studies from 2007 and 2011 were largely funded
through a fellowship from the NASA Graduate Student Research
Program. As a part of these studies, he contributed to the
field of guided wave structural health monitoring by developing
improved imaging algorithms and methods to adaptively estimate and
compensate for nonlinear system parameters. Dr. Hall is currently the sole proprietor of
Hidden Solutions, LLC.
Dr. Hall is a senior member of the IEEE and an associate
member of the Acoustical Society of America. His research interests include
digital signal processing (DSP), multichannel signal processing,
